I-10 Widening from the Texas state line to east of Vinton
Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is improving the movement of freight along a critical east-west interstate corridor and alleviating congestion for local residents and businesses.
This $152 million project will widen Interstate 10 from three to six lanes from the Texas state line to east of Vinton. By widening over 10 miles of I-10, this will alleviate congestion for residents and businesses along this corridor. The project will also replace five bridge systems, and remove and upgrade the eastbound weigh-in-motion system.
Over 1.6 million tons of freight are carried along this section of I-10 each year. Once complete, I-10 will be a continuous six-lane interstate from the state line to the west I-210 interchange. This will enhance travel for the transportation industry as well as improve travel time for residents, commuters, and visitors. Construction is being completed in three segments to minimize the impact on the traveling public. Work began on segment one from the state line to LA 109 in September 2020. The entire project is anticipated to be complete in 2025.
